CarCensus privacy policy
The short version
CarCensus does not collect any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We cannot see what you search for or which cars you save.
Who we are
The CarCensus app is published by media MAISON Limited. For anything relating to this policy, email [email protected]. Our company details are in our website privacy policy.
What stays on your iPhone
- My Garage. The cars you save, and the count when you saved them, are stored only on your device.
- Settings. Your display preferences are stored only on your device.
This information never leaves your iPhone, except as part of any device backup you make (for example iCloud Backup), which Apple handles under your own Apple Account. Deleting the app deletes it. We have no access to it.
Searches and the vehicle data
All searches run on your device against a database built into the app. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. The vehicle data is published, aggregate government statistics: counts of vehicles by make and model. It contains no registration numbers or information about individual vehicles or keepers.
Internet use
This version of CarCensus does not send data over the internet. If you tap a link (for example to GOV.UK or this website), it opens in your browser, which has its own privacy policy. If you share a card, the image is created on your iPhone and goes only where you choose to send it.
Purchases
This version has no in-app purchases. If optional purchases are added in future, Apple will process them and we will update this policy before they are introduced.
Children
CarCensus does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because the app does not collect personal data, we hold no app data about you to access, correct or delete. If you email us, we handle your message as described in our website privacy policy. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
