CarCensus
CarCensus is an iPhone app that answers one question well: how many of your car are left? Search any make or model and see how many are registered in the UK, presented on a number plate: 1 OF 38.
What it shows
- How many are licensed (taxed) and how many are declared off the road (SORN)
- How the number has changed this quarter and over the year, with history since 2014 (Great Britain back to 1994)
- New registrations, national rarity, age profile and, where it can be worked out reliably, the generation
- Discover shelves such as Last of their kind, Survivors and Modern rarities
- My Garage, side-by-side comparisons and shareable plate cards
Honest, official data
Every figure comes from the Department for Transport's vehicle licensing statistics, compiled from DVLA records and published under the Open Government Licence v3.0, which permits reuse, including commercial use, with attribution. The app works offline, with no account, ads or tracking. More about the data.
CarCensus is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the DVLA, DfT or any vehicle manufacturer.
